Starting next week, thousands of Americans will receive a $1,000 bonus check as part of a first responders support program.
Governor Ron DeSantis talked about the payments made available through Florida’s Essential First Responders Recognition Program last week during an event in Jacksonville, where he handed their stimulus payment to a couple of first responders.
The governor added that around100,000 Floridians would be receiving this bonus check.

Who’s eligible to receive this $1,000 bonus check?
To qualify for this $1,000 bonus check, Florida’s Department of Economic Opportunity detailed the eligibility criteria.
The individual must be employed as an essential first responder serving a local government as a sworn law enforcement officer, firefighter, paramedic or emergency medical technician, or EMT.
The first responder had to be employed before May 1, 2022.

The amount varies according to the number of hours worked by the individual each week, with the checks starting to roll out next week.
Checks are made for more than the final amount to account for the taxes taken out of the payment.
Employees working at least 40 hours weekly will get a check for $1,000.
While someone who works at least 30 hours a week has a recognition payment of $750, those working for at least 20 hours every seven days will see their check grant them 500 dollars.
Finally, those working at least 10 hours per week will have a recognition payment of $250.
“These bonuses are a token of our appreciation for their work and sacrifices to keep Florida safe,” said Governor DeSantis.
