Kunal Ghosh, the suspended Trinamool MP who has been jailed for his involvement in the Sharada Chit Fund Scam, attempted suicide on the night of 13th November 2014.
The news has been confirmed by the Police, and as per credible sources, Ghosh took 58 sleeping pills, and after that he himself informed the officials about it. The 46 years old politician was given a stomach wash in no time, and he is out of danger now.
Earlier on Monday, Ghosh has threatened in the court that he will commit suicide if the real culprits in the scam are not arrested.
He told the court that the investigation is influenced by some external forces. ”It is not acceptable that I will rot in jail while those involved will roam freely.
I am giving three days’ time, if action is not taken I will commit suicide”, said a frustrated Ghosh in the court.
Kunal Ghosh was the only leader named in the suspect list of Sharada Chit Fund Scam investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation. He was the chief of media operations in the Sharada Group.
Sharada Group made it to the headlines by offering a financial scheme which promises 40% growth for the investors.
But the scheme failed to take off, and it pulled umpteen numbers of people to bankruptcy in West Bengal and Odisha. The suicide of three investors added salt to the wound, and finally, the Supreme Court of India ordered the CBI probe.
