The award season in Bollywood has kicked off with the 2014 Stardust Awards that was held in Mumbai on December 14, 2014.
The Stardust Awards saw a huge attendance of celebrities, and the most number of awards was won by the “Happy New Year” team.
Directed by choreographer turned director Farah Khan, “Happy New Year” won the Best Actor award in the Action/ Thriller Genre for Shah Rukh Khan, while his leading lady Deepika Padukone won the Star of the Year award.
The movie also got “Film of the Year” award and the “Dream Director Award”.
Among the other big winners, it was “Queen” that bagged the Best Film, while Kangana Ranaut won the Best Actress for the same film and Vikas Bahl won the best director along with Imtiaz Ali for “Highway”.
Randeep Hooda also got the best actor award, while Alia Bhatt won ‘Superstar of Tomorrow’ trophy.
In the drama category, the Best Actor went to Shahid Kapoor for “Haider”, while Priyanka Chopra won the actress category for “Mary Kom”.
Sidharth Shukla won the “’Breakthrough Supporting Performance” for his role in “Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania”.
“Yaariyaan” won the award for best music, while it was Ankit Tiwari who got the best playback singer award. Kanika Kapoor won the award for best playback singer in female category, for her rendition of “Baby Doll”.
Asha Parekh was given the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Jacqueline Fernandes too won an award for being the style diva of the year.
