Stimulus Check March 2023; These American States are Still Distributing Payments

Stimulus Check 2023: Direct Payments Of Upto $1,050 Now Being Received By Millions

Many Americans wonder if they will receive another stimulus check from the federal government in 2023, as inflation continues to rise and the pandemic is not over yet.

The answer is most likely no.

There is no current legislation or proposal to authorize a fourth round of stimulus payments at the federal level.

The last stimulus check of $1,400 was sent out in March 2021 as part of the American Rescue Plan Act. Since then, some eligible families have received monthly payments of up to $300 per child through the expanded Child Tax Credit program, which ended in December 2022.

However, some states issued stimulus payments to residents in 2022, using funds from the American Rescue Plan Act or their budgets.

These states include California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, and Pennsylvania. Alaska also issued a special Energy Relief Payment in addition to its annual Permanent Fund Dividend payment.

Most of these state stimulus payments are not taxable at the federal level, according to recent guidance from the IRS.

Some states are still distributing payments from their 2022 programs or accepting applications or qualifying tax returns for them. For example:

– New Jersey residents who filed their 2020 state income tax returns by October 15th, 2022, and had a gross income of $75k or less may receive a rebate check of up to $500 by March 31st, 2023.
– New Mexico residents who did not receive any federal stimulus checks in 2020 or 2021 may qualify for a one-time payment of $750 if they apply online by March 31st, 2023.
– Alaska residents who received a Permanent Fund Dividend payment in October 2022 may also receive an Energy Relief Payment of up to $1,100 by March 31st, 2023.
