The 23-year-old Miss Philippines Megan Young won the coveted Miss World pageant held in Bali on Saturday, Sept, 28, 2013.
After winning the pageant, Young said, “I treasure a core value of humanity and that guides people why they act the way they do. I will use this to show other people how they can understand each other… as one, we can help society.”
Marine Lorphelin of France won the 1st runners-up while Carranzar Naa Okailey of Ghana won the 2nd runners-up.
Embarrassingly, Miss India Navneet Kaur Dhillon was not even in the tops 20 of the pageant.
Megan Young wins Miss World 2013The event was telecasted live in around 18 countries across the world.
The United States born Mega Young promises to ‘be the best Miss World ever’. So we have to wait and see wait difference does she make to the world.
There were many protesters on the streets of Bali to oppose the pageant in the largest populated muslim country in the world.
The protested wanted the pageant to be moved out of Indonesia to Nusa Dua which is in southern Bali, a Hindu resort island. But the organisers didnt fall to their demands.
There was tight security around the venue during the pageant. Lastly the protesters were not allowed new the venue and they dispersed after offering prayers at the local mosque.
Young beat five other contestants from France, Brazil and other countries and was crowned Miss World 2013 by last years winner Wenxia Yu of China.
