Virat Kohli also known as the “King” smashed his 29th century in tests and 76th overall in the second match of the series against West Indies.
On Friday, during the final Test against the West Indies, India’s outstanding batsman Virat Kohli hit his 29th Test century. When Kohli scored his last Test century abroad in Perth in December 2018, he put an end to an almost five-year drought for an overseas Test century. In total, Kohli now has 76 international centuries, moving him one step closer to Sachin Tendulkar’s stunning 100-ton mark. And the Master Blaster himself congratulated the 34-year-old great hitter as he reached his ton.
Tendulkar, who has always been referred to by Viral Kohli as his idol, reserved the highest admiration for him on his official Instagram site. The former batting legend, also known as “Master Blaster,” posted a story with the caption, “Another day, another century by @virat.kohli. “Well played!”
After losing several quick wickets after Virat Kohli arrived at the crease, India’s first-innings recovery depended heavily on Kohli’s performance. Following Kohli’s entry into the batting order, Rohit Sharma (80) and Ajinkya Rahane (10) were both bowled out within the span of four overs of one another, due to which the latter was forced to play defensively. By the conclusion of the first day, Virat was still unbeaten on 87; the 34-year-old had gradually rediscovered his rhythm and put together a 106-run stand with Ravindra Jadeja.
In their partnership the following morning, the pair scored 53 more runs, and Kohli hit his 29th century. But he was run out on 121 for only the third time in his Test career.
Kohli also had the chance to add a second century to the series, which was going on during the first test, but he was stopped at 76. India defeated the hosts in the Test by an innings-and-141-run margin, and they’ll be going for a clean sweep in Port of Spain.
