In November, Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover welcomed their daughter, Devi Basu Singh Grover.
Now, the actress has opened up about her parenting journey. Bipasha also revealed that their daughter was born with two holes in her heart.
Speaking to actress Neha Dhupia on Instagram Live, Bipasha revealed that Devi had to have surgery when she was three months old.
The actor said, “Our journey has been different from the usual mom and dad journey, now it’s harder than the smile on my face.
I don’t want this to happen to any mother. For a new mom, when you know… I know our baby was born on her birthday with two holes in her heart.
I didn’t want to share this, but I do because there are so many mothers who have helped me on this journey and it is very difficult to find these mothers…” added Bipasha Basu,
Devi check VSD (ventricular septal defect). This VSD… we’re going through chaotic times. We didn’t discuss this with the family and we were confused.
We wanted to celebrate, but Karan and I were a little numb.
About the surgery and her and Karan Singh Grover’s preparations, Bipasha Basu added: “The first five months were very difficult for us. But Devi was very good from day one.
We were told that we should check it every month to see if it heals on its own, she said. But her hole was so big that we were told it was unbelievable and you needed surgery, she added.
The surgery is best done when the baby is three months old.
Bipasha Basu added that Karan Singh Grover was “not ready” for Devi’s surgery. “I remember when we went to the examination in the 3rd month, I did all the research and talked to the doctor, I went to the hospital, I talked to the doctor, I’m ready, Karan is gone.
She will be fine and I know she will do well, now she is fine.
However, the difficult decision is to have your child operated at the right time and in the right place.
Bipasha Basu told Neha Dhupia that Devi had been operated for 6 hours, Bipasha added that she did not sleep “40 days and 40 nights”. I’m not lying, I swear.
