‘Gadar 2’ Day 5 box-office collection: Sunny Deol starrer grosses Rs 203 crores

The much-awaited sequel to the 2001 blockbuster “Gadar: Ek Prem Katha”, “Gadar 2”, has continued to blaze at the box office, crossing the Rs 200 crore mark on its fifth day of release. 

The film, directed by Anil Sharma and starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, has grossed a total of Rs 203.5 crore so far.

Box-office collections day wise

“Gadar 2” had a phenomenal opening day, collecting Rs 40.1 crore. It then went on to collect Rs 43.08 crore on Day 2, Rs 51.7 crore on Day 3, and Rs 39 crore on Day 4. On its fifth day, according to early estimates, the film collected Rs 30.7 crore, taking its total to Rs 203.5 crore.

“Gadar 2” is now the third highest-grossing Hindi film of 2023, after The “Kashmir Files” and “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2”. It is also the highest-grossing film of Sunny Deol’s career.

The film’s success is being attributed to its strong storyline, patriotic theme, and star power. “Gadar 2” is set against the backdrop of the 1947 partition of India and Pakistan. It tells the story of Tara Singh (Sunny Deol), a Sikh man who goes on a mission to rescue his wife, Geeta (Ameesha Patel), from Pakistan.

The film has been praised for its realistic depiction of the partition and for its emotional portrayal of Tara Singh and Geeta’s love story. “Gadar 2” has also been a hit with the audience, who have been flocking to the theaters to watch the film.

With its strong box office performance, “Gadar 2” is poised to become one of the biggest hits of Bollywood in recent years. The film is expected to continue its winning streak in the coming days, as it coincides with the Independence Day weekend.

Public response

The film was not released in Pakistan due to the ongoing ban on Indian films in the country.

“Gadar 2” was released in a total of 3,500 screens across India, making it the widest release for a Hindi film in 2023. The film also had a limited release in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.

The film received positive reviews from critics, who praised the performances of Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, as well as the action sequences. Gadar 2 has been a box office success, grossing over ₹150 crore in India in just four days. The film is expected to cross the ₹200 crore mark in the coming days.

Worldwide release dates

It is unclear if the movie will be released in Pakistan in the future. The ban on Indian films in Pakistan has been in place since 1965, and there is no indication that it will be lifted anytime soon.
