“Yaariyan 2”, a romance drama film directed by Vinay Sapru and Radhika Rao was released on October 26, 2023.
It is Divya Khosla Kumar’s standalone follow-up to “Yaariyan” (2014) and stars Khosla Kumar, Yash Dasgupta, Anaswara Rajan, Meezaan Jafri, Warina Hussain, Priya Prakash Varrier, and Pearl V. Puri. The 2014 Malayalam film “Bangalore Days”, starring Anjali Menon, is being remade.
Yash Dasgupta, Pearl V. Puri, and Anaswara Rajan make their screen debuts in Hindi cinema with it. Abhishek Kumar Singh did the editing, while Ravi Yadav handled the cinematography.
“Yaariyan 2” is having trouble at the box office because it is playing against “Ganapath”; in spite of its subpar showing, it only made Rs 55 lakh during the weekend.
The initial cast, which included Nivin Pauly, Dulquer Salmaan, Fahadh Faasil, Nazriya Nazim, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Isha Talwar, and Paris Laxmi, was assembled in ‘Bangalore days ‘.
The film became the top-grossing Malayalam film of the year and among the highest-grossing Malayalam films of all time, grossing between ₹48 and 50 crore globally.
Plot
It chronicles the travels of three cousins—Shikhhar, Ladli, and Bajrang—as they traverse Mumbai in search of their aspirations, adventures, and self-discovery. The plot centres on Ladli and Abhay’s tumultuous marriage, her discovery of his previous relationship, and their eventual divorce.
At the same time, Shikhar, who has been banned from bike racing, finds comfort in his employment and an unexpected friendship with a paraplegic girl named Ikroor, while Bajju suffers heartbreak in his quest for love.
The pivotal moment occurs when Shikhar competes in a dirt bike championship; this causes him to realize how he feels for Ikroor, and the ultimate result is a touching conclusion in which she chooses to stay with him.
“Yaariyan 2” skillfully delves into the themes of love, friendship, and the transformational potential of interpersonal relationships.
After earning Rs 55 lakh on Day 2, “Yaariyan 2” is finding it difficult to reach Rs 1 crore in its daily collection.
