The Fulton County district attorney’s office filed an emergency motion for a protective order on Tuesday to stop further material from going public following the leak of discovery materials in the Georgia election subversion case against former President Donald Trump and his co-defendants.

Proffer tapes, the legal term for recorded talks between some of Trump’s co-defendants and prosecutors, were partially leaked to several news organisations on Monday. The videos were covered by ABC News, The Washington Post, and erstwhile pro-Trump lawyers Jenna Ellis, Sidney Powell, Kenneth Chesebro, and bail bondsman Scott Hall of Atlanta, who spoke on camera.

As part of their plea agreements with the DA’s office in the massive racketeering case that was brought against them, the four of them were obligated to turn over the proffers to the prosecutors.

In her second application for a protective order of discovery documents on Tuesday, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis claimed that the purpose of the “release of these confidential video recordings is clearly to intimidate witnesses in this case” by putting them through “harassment and threats prior to trial.”

Prosecutors included an apparent email concession from one of Trump’s co-defendants in their motion. The films offer some fresh information regarding Trump’s associates’ attempts to rig the results of the election to his advantage.

According to one of the tapes, Ellis informed prosecutors that Dan Scavino, Trump’s former deputy chief of staff in the White House, downplayed her worries about the shrinking legal avenues for Trump to contest the election.

According to the video, Ellis stated, “And he said, ‘Well, the boss,’ meaning President Trump and everyone understood ‘the boss,’ that’s what we all called him, he said, ‘the boss is not going to leave under any circumstances.'”
