Netflix’s upcoming Korean horror series “Parasyte: The Grey” is a live-action adaptation of the ‘Parasyte’ manga. The series is a directorial work of Yeong Sang-ho, who is widely acclaimed for his series ‘Hellbound’ and the film ‘Train to Busan.’
‘Parasyte: The Grey’ plot
In the anime, a high school student named Shinichi Izumi gets attacked by a parasitic organism that fails to take over his brain. Instead, he ends up taking control of his arm. Netflix’s ‘Parasyte: The Grey follows Jeong Su-in becomes a target of a parasitic creature who takes control of her arm.
Meanwhile, Seol Kang-woo is after a parasitic entity which might be the link to his missing sister, and Choi Jun-kyung is in charge of the anti-parasitic life squad known as ‘The Grey.’ Her primary objective is to eliminate parasitic entities, driven by the personal loss of her husband to one.
Jeon So-nee, recognized for her roles in ‘Our Blooming Youth,’ ‘When My Love Blooms,’ and ‘Soulmate,’ will play the character of Jeong Su-in in the upcoming series. The ensemble cast also includes Lee Jung-Hyun in the role of Choi Jun-Kyung, Kwon Hae-Hyo as Kim Chul-min, and Kim In-kwon as Kang Won-seok.
In the teaser released by Netflix, we can see a group of individuals under the influence of alien-like parasites who want to dominate humanity and take control of the Earth. Jeon So-nee’s character, Su-in, is introduced in the teaser, depicting a young woman, who is struggling to co-exist with a parasite living in her body. However, unlike others, Su-in manages to retain her humane qualities. The trailer also gives us a glimpse of action-packed scenes that one can anticipate in the series.
Release Date Of ‘Parasyte: The Grey’
The official synopsis of the series read – “When unidentified parasites violently take over human hosts and gain power, humanity must rise to combat the growing threat.
‘Parasyte: The Grey’ is scheduled to be released for streaming on Netflix beginning April 5, 2024.
