Kuwait City, June 12, 2024 — A devastating fire broke out in a residential building in Mangaf, Kuwait, resulting in 41 fatalities and leaving over 30 Indian workers injured. The incident occurred around 6 a.m. local time and has sent shockwaves through the Gulf nation.
Tragic Details:
The six-story building was situated in the Mangaf area of Kuwait’s southern Ahmadi Governorate.
The victims were predominantly foreign workers, with many of them being Indians. The building housed nearly 160 people, all employees of the same company.
The fire originated in a kitchen on the ground floor, rapidly engulfing the entire structure.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, but the intensity of the blaze made rescue efforts challenging.
At least 41 lives were lost, including 10 Indians. Among the victims, five hailed from Kerala. Over 50 people sustained injuries, with 30 Indians among them. These injured individuals were promptly taken to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention.

Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar expressed deep shock and condolences. He assured that the Indian Embassy in Kuwait would provide full assistance to the affected families.
