The much-awaited sequel, “Indian 2”, starring the legendary Kamal Haasan and directed by the visionary Shankar, will hit the silver screens on July 12. As anticipation builds, the film has already secured IMAX screens in Malaysia.
A Sequel Worth the Wait
“Indian 2” follows the footsteps of its 1996 predecessor, the Tamil blockbuster “Indian.” This reunion of Kamal Haasan and Shankar promises an exhilarating cinematic experience. With just three weeks remaining for the release, the film’s makers have opened advance bookings in overseas locations, and the response has been solid.
A Global Release
“Indian 2” will be released in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi languages across a record number of screens in overseas markets. The film’s dominance extends to the USA box office, where it occupies a significant share of screens. But that’s not all—IMAX screens in Malaysia will witness a never-before-seen release for a Tamil film.
Box Office Expectations
Shankar’s directorial venture is the first major Tamil film of 2024, and expectations are sky-high. The overseas theatrical rights for “Indian 2” were reportedly sold for a whopping Rs 65 crore.
The film needs to double those numbers if it has to make any profit. As a social drama that raises its voice against corruption, “Indian 2” is poised to make waves and perhaps even stir up controversy.
