Russia launched a massive drone and missile barrage across Ukraine, targeting critical energy infrastructure. The attack began around midnight and continued into the morning hours, marking Russia’s most substantial assault on Ukraine in weeks.
Russian forces fired drones, cruise missiles, and hypersonic ballistic Kinzhal missiles at 15 Ukrainian regions, affecting more than half of the country. At least three people were reported killed during the onslaught.
Energy Infrastructure Targeted:
Ukraine’s state-owned power grid operator, Ukrenergo, was forced to implement emergency power cuts to stabilize the system due to damage caused by the attacks.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal condemned the assault, describing it as an act of terrorism by Russian forces. The situation remains tense, with international concern growing over the impact on civilians and critical infrastructure, reported APNews.
“The energy infrastructure has once again become the target of Russian terrorists. Unfortunately, there is damage in several regions,” Shmyhal said.
