Salman Naseer Explains Impact of Quetta Gladiators’ Home Game Relocation on Karachi’s Match Count
As excitement builds for the upcoming season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, Karachi cricket fans have learned that their city will host only five matches this year. This decision comes in light of recent changes to the tournament’s venue allocations, particularly affecting the Quetta Gladiators.
In a recent interview, PSL CEO Salman Naseer provided clarity on the situation, stating, “Quetta Gladiators’ home games will be played in Lahore this time. This is why Lahore will host more matches this year, while Karachi will have fewer games, as Quetta traditionally played their home fixtures in Karachi.”
Venue Changes: A Shift in the PSL Landscape
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a total of 34 matches for PSL 10, with Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium leading the way by hosting 13 games, including two Eliminators and the final. Following closely is Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, which will feature 11 matches. In contrast, both Karachi’s National Bank Stadium and Multan Cricket Stadium will only host five games each.

Nadeem Khan, the Director of High Performance at the PCB, elaborated on the reasoning behind the allocation. He explained, “The main concept is essentially home-and-away based. Previously, Quetta Gladiators had National Bank Stadium in Karachi as their home ground, but this year, they have shifted it to Rawalpindi.” He further noted that Peshawar Zalmi’s home matches will also take place in Rawalpindi, contributing to the reduced number of games in Karachi.
Looking Ahead: Excitement for PSL 10
Despite the reduced number of matches, PSL 10 promises to deliver thrilling cricket action. The tournament is set to kick off on Friday, April 11, with defending champions Islamabad United facing off against two-time winners Lahore Qalandars at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Additionally, an exhibition match is scheduled for April 8 in Peshawar, with details about the participating teams to be announced soon.
