Unclaimed $1 Million Mega Millions Ticket Nears Expiration in Virginia

Months ago, the lucky ticket was purchased for the November 22, 2024, drawing. The ticket matched all but one number, narrowly missing the $453 million jackpot. The player scored the largest Mega Millions prize in the country that night.

Virginia Lottery Calls for Action

The Virginia Lottery emphasized the importance of checking tickets, as unclaimed prizes are rare but noteworthy. “We want to see this prize go to its rightful owner,” a spokesperson stated. The lottery also noted that the $1 million prize could make a substantial difference in someone’s life.

The cost of a Mega Millions ticket is $5, and purchases can be made on the day of the drawing, with sales times differing by state. Drawings take place every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. ET and can be viewed online via live stream. Mega Millions is available to players across 45 states, as well as in Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The winning numbers for the November 22 drawing were 3, 7, 37, 49, and 55, with the Mega Ball being 6. While the ticket holder missed the jackpot by one number, their prize remains substantial. The Virginia Lottery hopes the winner will step forward before the ticket expires.
