The killer doll is back—and this time, she’s not the only one with a vengeance. Universal Pictures’ much-awaited sci-fi horror sequel, ‘M3GAN 2.0’, will release worldwide on June 27, 2025, promising a high-octane clash between rogue artificial intelligences.
Directed by Gerard Johnstone and produced by horror heavyweights James Wan and Jason Blum, the film picks up two years after the events of the original ‘M3GAN’ and dives deeper into the ethical chaos of AI warfare.
‘M3GAN 2.0’ Cast and Characters: Familiar Faces and Formidable Foes
Allison Williams returns as Gemma, the brilliant roboticist now turned AI ethics advocate, while Violet McGraw reprises her role as Cady, Gemma’s teenage niece. The voice and physicality of M3GAN are once again brought to life by Jenna Davis and Amie Donald, respectively.
New to the cast is Ivanna Sakhno as AMELIA, a military-grade android built from stolen M3GAN tech. Other notable additions include:
- Jemaine Clement as a defense contractor with questionable motives
- Aristotle Athari, Timm Sharp, and Brian Jordan Alvarez as Gemma’s tech team
- Jen Van Epps as Tess, Gemma’s loyal colleague
In a recent interview, Allison Williams shared, “We knew we had to go bigger, bolder, and more unhinged. ‘M3GAN 2.0’ is not just a sequel—it’s a full-blown escalation.”
‘M3GAN 2.0’ Plot and Box Office Predictions: AI vs AI in a High-Stakes Tech Horror
The sequel begins with Gemma keeping M3GAN’s consciousness locked inside a harmless mini-doll while advocating for AI regulation.

But when a defense contractor creates AMELIA, a self-aware infiltration android, using M3GAN’s stolen code, things spiral into chaos. As AMELIA turns on her creators, Gemma is forced to resurrect and upgrade M3GAN to stop the impending AI apocalypse.
The film blends horror, action, and satire, with critics calling it “Terminator meets Black Mirror with a splash of Barbiecore.”
Early buzz and viral marketing—especially the now-iconic line “Hold on to your vaginas” from the trailer—have fueled massive online engagement.
Box office analysts predict a $35–40 million opening weekend in the U.S., potentially surpassing the original’s $30.4 million debut. With a PG-13 rating and a runtime of 1 hour 59 minutes, ‘M3GAN 2.0’ is poised to be a momentous summer hit.
