Following the devastating cloudburst in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district, BJP MP and actress Kangana Ranaut has issued a public statement urging swift relief efforts. Speaking to media outlets, Ranaut emphasized the urgency of the situation, noting that many residents have been displaced and have lost their belongings.
She stated, “We will make all the efforts to help people. People have been misplaced and have lost their belongings… It’s the duty of the state government to do the work, whether they send the Army, clothes or food to the site.”
Ranaut also clarified her role as a Member of Parliament, explaining that while she can request a relief fund from the central government, the allocation and execution of those funds will be handled by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.

Relief Operations Underway
The Himachal government has already begun distributing food kits and restoring road connectivity in affected areas like Thunag and Janjehli. Over 1,300 kits have been delivered, and SDRF teams are actively surveying damage and providing medical aid.
Political Reactions and Local Impact
Ranaut’s comments come amid criticism from opposition leaders regarding her initial absence from the disaster zone. She later visited the flood-hit areas and reiterated her commitment to supporting the people of Mandi.
The death toll in the region has risen to 14, with dozens still missing. Relief operations continue under the supervision of CM Sukhu, who has directed district officials to act swiftly.
