‘Krrish3’ box-office collection report

Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan’s much awaited superhero sci-fi movie “Krrish 3” has released today on Nov 01, 2013 worldwide.

The movie also starring Priyanka Chopra, Vivek Oberoi and Kangana Ranaut in crucial roles has opened in about 4000+ screens in India.

“Krrish 3” which was supposed to release along with “Dhoom 3” had been preponed to Nov 01, 2013 around Diwali time.

This is bound to benefit the collections considering the holiday weekend and lack of competition with any other movies.

The 1st day i,e Friday’s box-office earnings of “Krrish 3” is Rs 25 crores. The movie collected Rs. 1. 58 crores in the U.K., Rs. 45 lakhs in Australia and Rs. 13.10 lakhs in New Zealand.

In the UAE, it collected Rs. 2.2 crores.

Just before the movie release, a writer from Madhya Pradesh sought a stay by the court accusing the producer Rakesh Roshan that the story is a plagiarised version of his own script. The court refused a stay, paving way for successful release of “Krrish 3”.

Reviews of the movie have been pouring in and so far critics seem to be having mixed reactions on the movie so far. Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV has given the movie 2.5 stars out of 5.

Indiatoday rated the movie 3 stars out of 5 calling the movie as a cocktail of two Hollywood franchises, Superman fighting evil X-Men. The review praised Hrithik’s dual role as the backbone of the movie.

The movie has taken an outstanding start in multiplexes with 75% occupancy and 90% occupancy across single screens.

As per Financial Express, if “Krrish 3” and “Dhoom 3” click with audience true to their potential, then the cumulative box office collection of 2013 will be a massive Rs 2700 cr.
