Nursing Students Get Professional Boost from Rotary Club of Hubballi Central
The Rotary Club of Hubballi Central (RCHC) donated 20 refurbished watches to the underprivileged nursing students of Mahila Vidya Peeth, Hubli on April 22, 2026.
We saw a unique initiative unfold at Mahila Vidya Peeth in Hubballi. Nursing students there now have a critical tool for their clinical rounds.
Why the sudden focus on watches?
Nursing requires constant monitoring of patient vitals and medication schedules. Our sources confirmed that underprivileged students often lack reliable timepieces for these tasks.
Rtn Savita Kalloli Tirlapur, Rtn Aparna Hebsur, and Rtn Kirti Tambad identified this specific need within the local community. They turned a simple idea into a functional reality.
Who led the charge?
The effort required more than just money. We talked to members who emphasized the logistical push. Rtn Dr. Nagrekha Hebsur took the lead in driving the initiative and physically distributing the items to the students.
Rtn Anjana Basangoudar, serving as President, and Rtn Smitha Mahesh, Secretary, oversaw the coordination.
What was donated?
The club members stepped up aggressively. They contributed exactly 20 watches from their own collections. These refurbished pieces were tested for accuracy before the handover.
Every single watch represents a student who can now track a pulse or time an IV drip with precision.
The spirit of “Service Above Self” was palpable. Each watch serves as a symbol of professional confidence for these young women.
It validates their choice to enter the healthcare field despite financial hurdles. Real empowerment. The event concluded with a sense of collective achievement among the donors and the recipients alike.
