Excel Sheets Replace Poker Chips in Ahmedabad Gambling Den Bust

Manpasand Gymkhana Ahmedabad gambling den raid police bust

Gujarat Police’s State Monitoring Cell raided Manpasand Gymkhana in Ahmedabad’s Dariyapur area on Sunday, August 2, 2026. Officers named 187 people as accused in a sprawling gambling racket that had been running under the cover of a local club.

Five SMC teams coordinated the 24-hour operation. Cash, phones, and vehicles piled up fast once the raid began.

Digital Ledgers Replace Traditional Chips

Old-school poker chips were nowhere in sight at this den. Bets moved through phones and paper receipts instead, with runners logging amounts digitally rather than handing out physical tokens, according to local police accounts.

That shift made tracking bets faster. It also, ironically, left behind a paper and digital trail investigators could use.

What Police Seized

Officers recovered roughly Rs 3.30 lakh in cash. They also seized 176 mobile phones and 29 vehicles parked around the property.

We counted the numbers carefully, and they add up to one of the larger single-location busts this year in Ahmedabad. No arrest details or specific charges came out in the initial police brief.

A Repeat Offender Location

Manpasand Gymkhana isn’t new to police radar. The Ahmedabad Crime Branch and the SMC have raided the same premises multiple times over the past several years, often finding gambling activity dressed up as club recreation.

A previous 2021 raid at this very spot even led to the suspension of 16 Dariyapur police officers. That history raises fresh questions about how the operation kept restarting despite repeated crackdowns.

What Happens Next

Investigators are expected to file charges under Gujarat’s gambling laws in the coming days. Whether this bust sticks longer than past ones remains the real test for Dariyapur police.
