Why Farmers Are Still On The Battleground Even After Repulsion Of The 3 Farm Laws

The nationwide protest of farmers started on August 9, 2020. Since then, major highways to Delhi are flooded with protesters.
With minor small-scale protests seen in countries such as the US, UK, Canada, and New Zealand.
The protest has been going on for more than a year, withstanding the weather and harsh circumstances.
The three farmer laws introduced by the Government, famously called Anti farmers laws, are the reason behind all the agitation.
The ”Farm Laws Repeal Bill 2021” was passed by the Lok Sabha earlier on Monday on the first day of the winter session of Parliament.
But still, the farmers hold on to the protest.
Rakesh Tikait justifies the reason as a fight for MSP (Minimum Support Price).
The protest also means to quash the cases against farmers and give justice to the 750 deaths in the protest.

Rakesh Tikait and Government session

The Government sought names of 5 representatives from the farm unions for inclusion on the committee.
Kulwant Singh Sandhu of Jamhuri Kisan Sabha will meet the Samyukta Kisan Morcha on Wednesday to decide on the name, according to Indian Express.

The Farmers protest so far

.
The cause of farmers’ protests is the three laws stated here.
Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill
Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill
Both sides saw no way of complying on their way.

The protest thus resulted in 750 deaths of farmers and hundreds of injured.

Conclusion

After the repulsion of the 3 laws, many say that this protest should end. The victory for farmers hasn’t been easy.
More than a year of processions took a lot from them. We must look up to their demands and needs.
