The marital discord between Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui and his wife Aaliya has been making headlines for a while now.
The couple, who have been married for over 10 years, have two children – a daughter Shora and a son Yaani. Aaliya had filed for divorce from Nawazuddin in May 2020, citing irreconcilable differences and alleged domestic abuse.
In a recent interview with a leading daily, Aaliya opened up about the status of their divorce and the custody of their kids.
She said that the divorce will take place soon as both of them have agreed to it. She also said that she will have the sole custody of their children as Nawazuddin has not shown any interest in them.
Aaliya said that she has been living separately from Nawazuddin for the past two years and has been taking care of their kids’ education and expenses.
She said that Nawazuddin has not contributed anything financially or emotionally to their children’s well-being. She also claimed that he has not met them or called them even once during the lockdown.
Aaliya said that she does not want any alimony from Nawazuddin as she is capable of earning her own living.
She said that she only wants him to pay for their children’s education and maintenance. She also said that she does not have any grudge against him and wishes him well in his career.
Aaliya said that she decided to end her marriage with Nawazuddin after suffering a lot of humiliation and mental torture from him and his family. She said that she was treated like a nobody and was constantly insulted and abused by them. She said that she tried to save her marriage for the sake of her kids but realized that it was not worth it.
Aaliya said that she is happy and peaceful now and is focusing on her kids’ future. She said that she is also planning to resume her career as a producer and writer. She said that she has some projects lined up and is looking forward to working on them.
