Zack Snyder Explains The ‘Knightmare’ Epilogue In Justice League

Zack Snyder has finally commented on the hotly debated Knightmare sequence from his Justice League director’s cut from 2021. The epilogue of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, a four-hour extended version of the 2017 superhero movie Justice League, featured Batman of Ben Affleck & Jared Leto’s Joker. The epilogue, also referred to as the “Knightmare sequence,” depicts a post-apocalyptic future in which Darkseid rules over Earth and Superman has lost his mind after Lois Lane’s passing.

Fans Were Surprised To See The Dark Knight

Batman has joined forces with Cyborg, the Flash, Deathstroke, Mera, and obviously, the Joker to attempt to fight the Man of Steel. Fans were surprised to see the Dark Knight working alongside his most infamous foe, and many were left wondering what this post-apocalyptic world would bring. During a panel discussion at SnyderCon 2023, Snyder recently addressed the subject, stating that the team-up has to deal with locating Kryptonite fragments to kill Superman. According to the filmmaker, “our opinion is that the one who has the idea where the Kryptonite exists, what chunks of Kryptonite exist,” according to CBR. Although Snyder’s theory is incredibly plausible, this tease will probably never materialize for DC in the future.

Zack Snyder And Gunn Remain Friendly

Since taking over as co-heads of DC Studios in October, James Gunn as well as Peter Safran have completely reset the company’s narrative. This calls for new superheroes, new castings, and at least temporarily no Zack Snyder. Snyder and Gunn remain friendly despite the conclusion of the Snyderverse. Gunn informed his followers on social media this year in February that Snyder appeared to be pleased with Gunn’s selections for the new DC. The first film in Gunn and Safran’s Superman: Legacy timeline will have a new cast for the Man of Steel. Snyder is continuing to work on expanding his filmography in the meantime. Rebel Moon, a brand-new space opera movie that he wrote and directed entirely from scratch, will debut on Netflix in December reports Ign.
