Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal quits Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah over sexual harassment allegations against Asit Kumarr Modi
Jennifer Bansiwal, who played the role of Roshan Singh Sodhi’s wife in the popular TV show “Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah”, has quit the show after 15 years. She has accused producer Asit Modi of making sexual advances towards her.
Bansiwal said that the incident happened on March 7, which was her wedding anniversary. She had informed the team that she would need a half-day leave, but Modi insisted that she come to the shoot. When she reached the set, Modi allegedly started making sexual advances towards her.
Bansiwal said that she tried to ignore Modi’s advances, but he persisted. She then tried to leave the set, but Modi allegedly stopped her and threatened her.
Bansiwal said that she is scared of Modi and his influence in the industry. She has filed a complaint with the police, but no action has been taken yet.
Modi has denied the allegations, calling them “false and baseless”. He has said that he will take legal action against Bansiwal.
The case has sparked outrage on social media, with many people calling for Modi to be held accountable for his actions. The National Commission for Women (NCW) has also taken suo motu cognizance of the matter and has asked the Mumbai Police to submit a report within 7 days.
The actress reacted to the reports of leaving the show and told TOI, “Yes, I’ve left the show. It is right that I shot my last episode of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah on March 6 this year. I had to leave the sets as I was subjected to humiliation and insult at the hands of Mr Sohil Ramani and the other executive producer Jatin Bajaj.”
