On December 27th, 2023, San Jose police successfully shut down an illegal casino and brothel operation located in the 2400 block of Autumnvale Drive in North San Jose. Following a month-long investigation, officers served a search warrant and arrested five individuals connected to the illicit activities.

The investigation began after receiving reports of suspicious activity at the building, which housed several commercial units. Detectives determined that the units were being used for illegal gambling, drug sales, and prostitution.

According to CBSNews, “This was a sophisticated operation that was hidden in plain sight,” said Captain John Manley of the San Jose Police Department’s METRO Unit. “We are grateful for the community’s assistance in bringing this illegal activity to light.”

During the raid, officers seized a significant amount of evidence, including:

  • 33 firearms, including assault weapons
  • 150,000 rounds of ammunition
  • 500 pounds of marijuana
  • $20,000 in cash
  • Gambling equipment

The five individuals arrested have been identified as:

  • Saolepea Liu, 42, of Antioch
  • Nido Nguyen, 35, of San Jose
  • Phuong Nguyen, 44, of San Jose
  • Windie Pratt, 41, of San Jose
  • Anai Garcia, 24, of San Jose

All five suspects were booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on warrants and multiple felony charges.

“This operation is a reminder that illegal gambling and prostitution can have serious consequences,” said District Attorney Jeff Rosen. “We will continue to work with the San Jose Police Department to crack down on these activities and protect our community.”
