On May 7, 2025, India conducted a powerful military operation in Pakistan’s border region, reportedly targeting a militant hideout linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed founder Masood Azhar. The operation resulted in the deaths of ten to 15 members of Azhar’s family.
Indian Forces Launch Precise Strike on Known Terrorist Hideout
According to Indian defense officials, the strike aimed to dismantle a suspected terrorist haven believed to be connected to Masood Azhar’s operations. A senior military spokesperson stated, “We targeted a location with high intelligence value, which was hosting individuals linked to Azhar’s family. This action underscores India’s resolve to counter-terrorism and dismantle terror networks at their roots.”
Sources indicate that this attack was carried out using advanced missile technology, ensuring precision targeting while minimizing collateral damage. The Indian government emphasized its intent to neutralize anyone connected to terrorist activities that threaten regional stability.

Pakistani Authorities Respond with Condemnation and Calls for De-escalation
Pakistan swiftly condemned the attack, describing it as a violation of sovereignty and warning of serious repercussions. The Pakistani Foreign Ministry declared, “India’s unilateral actions threaten peace in the region. We strongly condemn these aggressive maneuvers and call for an urgent de-escalation through diplomatic channels.”
Pakistani officials also alleged that India’s claim of targeting terrorist families was unsubstantiated, hinting that the strike might have targeted innocent civilians. The incident has led to increased military alertness along the Line of Control (LoC).
International Community Calls for Calm Amid Rising Tensions
Global leaders responded cautiously, urging restraint from both nations. A spokesperson for the United Nations stressed, “Peace and dialogue are the only solutions to longstanding disputes. Both India and Pakistan must exercise restraint and seek diplomatic solutions.” Meanwhile, neighboring countries like China and Bangladesh expressed concern and called for an immediate ceasefire.

Security Experts Warn of Potential for Further Violence
Experts voice fears that such strikes could lead to a dangerous cycle of retaliation. Dr. Emily Carter, a regional security analyst, explained, “Targeting family members associated with terror figures is a provocative move that risks deepening hostilities. Both sides should prioritize diplomacy to prevent escalation into broader conflict.”
Historical Context and Current Situation
Masood Azhar, leader of JeM, has long been accused of orchestrating or supporting attacks in India. His network remains a core threat in the region despite numerous international pressure and counter-terrorism efforts.
