Meghan Markle’s Father Moves to the Philippines from US, Struggles in Rented Flat

Meghan Markle’s estranged father, Thomas Markle Sr., has relocated from Mexico to the Philippines, settling in a high-rise apartment in Cebu.

At 80 years old, the former Hollywood lighting director is reportedly struggling to adjust to his new surroundings, where the humid climate and unfamiliar environment pose challenges.

Thomas Markle’s Move to Cebu

Markle Sr. now resides in a $660-per-month apartment alongside his son, Thomas Markle Jr. Locals have observed the pair trying to settle into their new home, with reports indicating they are still finding their footing.

A source shared, “Thomas and his son only recently moved into the property and they are still finding their feet in Cebu after the big move abroad, but they’re here together and are firmly supporting each other.”

Harsh Climate and Difficult Adjustments

Cebu’s weather, known for its extreme humidity and frequent rainfall, has reportedly made the transition difficult for Markle Sr. “There are only two types of weather in Cebu: hot and humid, and hot and humid and raining. It’s brutal even for men half his age, but it’s still sad to see him looking as though he’s struggling,” a local resident commented.

Temperatures in Cebu have recently reached 33°C (91°F) with humidity levels nearing 90%, making daily life challenging for the elderly Markle Sr. He has been spotted using a walking stick to navigate uneven roads and humid streets, further highlighting the difficulties he faces in his new environment.

Markle Sr. has been estranged from his daughter since her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018. He did not attend the royal wedding due to health issues, including two heart attacks before the ceremony.

He has also never met his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet. In past interviews, he expressed regret over missing Meghan’s wedding and suggested that their strained relationship contributed to his decision to move far from the United States.

While the reasons behind Markle Sr.’s relocation remain unclear, he previously mentioned wanting to escape the “awful drama” surrounding his relationship with Meghan.
