Adobe Photoshop has made a notable move by launching a full-featured version on Android, breaking the previous restrictions that limited users to desktop platforms. Now, all Android users can enjoy the power of Photoshop right on their mobile devices.

Built for Mobile Creators

This was launched with the intention to reach a broader audience, essentially the next generation of content creators, influencers, along with students, and professionals who use Android devices as their primary creative tool. By empowering these users with full Photoshop capabilities, Adobe is trying to expand its market.

Adobe had previously tried to launch Photoshop on mobile, like Photoshop Express, Photoshop Mix, and Photoshop Fix. But all these versions have failed due to various reasons, until finally they came up with this newer, and better version of Adobe, which is now available in Android phones.

Advanced Features

It offers the same features that are available in desktop, like masking, layering, smart selection, crop, resize and various other complex editing tools. Although it has released the beta version which remains free, eventually it will get converted into a paid version. Adobe has not yet officially announced the price of the paid version but might be similar to the pricing structure for the iPhone version ($7.99 per month).

One of the additions to this new Adobe release is the introduction of Adobe Firefly, Adobe’s Generative AI. With generative AI one can remove, add or clean messy backgrounds alongwith auto expand scenes. This time saving feature is likely to make stark magical changes making the work of the creators easy with simple prompts. This opens up a new era of creativity making photoshop accessible for everyone across the globe.

Limitations

However, it has certain limitations. The app is only available for Android 11 and users might occasionally have to face bug issues because of the beta version. No bug fixes or customer support will be available in case of old android versions. Moreover, it requires at least 6GB of RAM (8 GB recommended) for it to function smoothly.
