MUMBAI, May 14: The facade of Mumbai’s iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) lit up with the official logo of the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027 this week as the Ministry of Railways marked the countdown to one of the world’s biggest spiritual gatherings.
Images shared on social media quickly drew attention online. The related social media embed is expected to be attached with the story, showing the heritage railway building illuminated with colorful visuals and the Kumbh Mela branding.
People stopped outside the UNESCO World Heritage site late in the evening. Phones came out instantly. Some recorded videos while others clicked selfies with the glowing backdrop.
“Mumbai’s historic CSMT shining with the Simhastha Kumbh Mela logo sends a powerful message,” one commuter said near the station entrance. “Pilgrims from across India will soon begin planning their journey.”
Nashik and Trimbakeshwar in Maharashtra are expected to welcome millions of devotees during the 2027 Kumbh Mela. Government estimates from previous editions showed footfall crossing 3 crore visitors over multiple weeks.
Railways will play a major role again. Our sources confirmed that planning discussions around crowd management, special trains, passenger movement, and station upgrades have already started quietly in several zones.
CSMT remains one of India’s busiest railway hubs, handling more than 30 lakh passengers every day through suburban and long-distance services. Lighting up the station carries symbolic value because the rail network becomes the lifeline of the Kumbh pilgrimage season.
