The scandal engulfing the Sydney Swans has taken an explosive turn as a high-profile lawyer representing two of the women involved made bombshell claims that more than five men were inside the East Melbourne hotel room when the alleged crimes took place.
John Karantzis of Carbone Lawyers revealed that his clients were subjected to the most “disgusting and degrading” actions he has encountered in his 28-year career. Speaking on Melbourne radio, Karantzis claimed that additional individuals—potentially including club leaders—were present in the suite at the Pullman Hotel alongside the five suspended Swans stars.
According to Karantzis, the women are currently in hiding, suffering severe trauma and fearing for their safety amid the intense public scrutiny. Legal proceedings are now being prepared in the Victorian Supreme Court, with the women set to seek substantial damages for psychological injury and economic loss.

The Sydney Football Club fired back, attempting to regain control of its rapidly deteriorating reputation. In a firm statement, the Swans flatly denied allegations that other players or club staff were inside the room during the central incident.
“The Sydney Swans can confirm that all investigations carried out by the club have consistently indicated that the only representatives of the club in the room central to the police investigation were the five players who have been stood down,” the club stated. “We condemn some of the misinformation being reported and are now considering our legal position on those matters.”
While the club threatens legal action against false reports, its leadership is scrambling to manage the fallout internally. Swans captain Callum Mills publicly apologized to the club’s AFLW team, acknowledging the immense pain and embarrassment the controversy has inflicted across the entire organization.
The Victoria Police Sex Crimes Squad continues to investigate the allegations, with no formal charges laid at this stage.
