Bengaluru, June 22: The Bengaluru civic administration has stepped up its enforcement against improper waste disposal, with officials conducting a special inspection and awareness drive in Kacharakanahalli Ward under the Sarvagnanagar Division.

The initiative focused on ensuring mandatory segregation of waste at the source by both commercial establishments and residents.

During the inspection, officials found DTH Bakers and several other commercial outlets disposing of mixed waste instead of separating it into designated categories. Following the inspection, the establishments were educated on proper waste management practices and were collectively fined ₹10,000 for violating waste segregation norms.

BBMP Officials Crack Down on Mixed Waste Disposal

The enforcement drive was carried out by officials of the BNCC Sarvagnanagar Division in Ward No. 29 – Kacharakanahalli, with support from Junior Health Inspectors (JHIs) and Link Workers.

Besides inspecting businesses, the team interacted with residents and shop owners to explain the importance of segregating waste before disposal.

Officials emphasized that households and commercial establishments must separate wet waste, dry waste, and sanitary waste to improve recycling efficiency and reduce the burden on landfills.

Awareness Campaign Promotes Responsible Waste Management

Alongside enforcement, the civic team conducted an extensive awareness campaign encouraging citizens to adopt responsible waste disposal practices.

Officials explained that proper segregation at source is essential for effective solid waste management and contributes to cleaner neighborhoods and a healthier urban environment.
