Urmila Matondkar’s ex-husband Mohsin Akhtar marries Nidhaa Bhatt 2 years after divorce: “Allah’s script is always better.”
Recently, actress and politician Urmilla Matondkar and businessman-model Mohsin Akhtar Mir ended their marriage.
While not much is heard about Urmilla after her separation from her husband, the latter has announced that he has tied the knot with Nidhaa Bhatt through social media and shared wedding photographs.
Urmilla, who started her career as a child artist in films like Masoom and Kalyug, went on to give major hits as an actress, including Narsimha, Chamatkar, Rangeela, and Judaai.
Urmilla had filed for a divorce in 2024 after 8 years of married life. The real reasons for the separation have not been revealed by either party.
Urmilla’s former husband, Mohsin Akhtar Mir, announced on June 14, 2026, about his marriage to Nidhaa Bhatt through social media, stating that “Allah’s script is always better.”
Urmila Matondkar and Mohsin Akhtar Mir first met each other during the wedding of a relative of fashion designer Manish Malhotra.
Urmilla had already made a name for herself in the Bollywood film industry, whereas Mohsin, who originally hailed from Kashmir, was still struggling to get a foothold in the Bollywood film industry.
The couple was soon involved in a romantic relationship, but kept their relationship private. After a two-year courtship, the couple tied the knot in March 2016 in a low-key and private ceremony attended by close relatives and friends.
The couple continued to stay away from public eyes and were seen occasionally at social events and on social media. While Mohsin continued with his modelling career, Urmilla took a break from acting, appearing in occasional appearances in some films.
The couple also jointly produced the Marathi film Madhuri through their production banner.
Urmilla later entered politics and contested the 2019 general elections with active support from her husband.
However, the couple largely stayed out of the media attention.
However, between 2020 and 2023, the couple were seen less together, sparking rumours that their marriage had become troubled.
It culminated with Urmilla formally filing for divorce in 2024.
The divorce was covered extensively by the media, but the couple had maintained silence and never came out publicly about the reasons for their separation.
