Karnataka BJP leaders flagged off the “Ballari Chalo” padayatra in Lingsugur on September 1, 2026, after a large public meeting. We saw former chief minister B.S. Yediyurappa announce the start on his official account @BSYBJP. Our sources said the walk is being framed by the party as a protest against the Congress government in Karnataka.
Yediyurappa wrote that the yatra would speak for farmers, women, youth, workers, and common people. He called it a Kannadiga outcry, not only a party event. Four photos with the post show a packed dais, flags, and the crowd at the Lingsugur meeting.
The former CM said the Congress government had forgotten public interest “in the pride of power.” He accused it of corruption and misrule. He added, “This protest padayatra is not merely a political fight. It is a people’s movement being held for Karnataka’s interest.”
He closed with a line that the struggle would not stop “until the anti-people Congress government is removed.” Those are his words on the party post. Congress has not replied on that thread.
ಅಧಿಕಾರದ ಮದದಲ್ಲಿ ಜನರ ಹಿತವನ್ನು… pic.twitter.com/gcxUbv5MNr

Lingsugur Meeting Opens BJP’s Ballari Chalo March
The post had 37 likes, 4 reposts, 2 replies, 1 bookmark, and about 2,357 views when we checked it. One reply from @Appu94729327 was simply “BJP Karnataka.” Another account quoted a separate note on dry farmland in the state.
Lingsugur sits in Raichur district, on the route toward Ballari. Party workers used the town as the launch point after the open meeting. Yediyurappa said all party leaders present were part of that first gathering.
State politics is heading into a sharper protest calendar. BJP is using padayatras to keep the Congress government on the defensive. Voters will judge the charges on jobs, farm distress, and administration as the walk moves toward Ballari.
We saw the Lingsugur event sold as a people’s march by the organiser. The official text is a campaign statement, not an independent audit of government work. More updates will follow as the Ballari Chalo column leaves town.
