The Composite Regional Centre in Davanagere held a cleanliness briefing on October 6, 2026, as part of Swachhata Pakhwada and Special Campaign 6.0. The centre works under the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities, which sits in the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities in the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. It has operated as a rehabilitation and special-education resource centre for persons with disabilities in Davanagere since 2017.
The centre said the October 6 programme followed Government of India instructions. Special Campaign 6.0, coordinated by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, runs from October 2 to October 31, 2026. Ministries used September 15 to September 30 as a preparatory phase to pick sites, set targets, and list pending files. The implementation month covers office cleaning, record weeding, scrap disposal, and scientific handling of e-waste.
The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities is taking part with its institutes and field centres, including CRC Davanagere. In Special Campaign 5.0 in 2025, the department and its organisations reported digitising or weeding 11,972 physical files, freeing about 15,588 square feet of office space, and raising ₹14.47 lakh from scrap. Those figures are department-wide. The Davanagere centre did not report a file count, a scrap sale, or a space figure for this round.
On 06.10.2026 CRC, Davanagere, under NIEPID, DEPwD, MoSJE, is observing Swachhata Pakhwada 2026 – Special Campaign 6.0, as per the Govt. Of India instructions. As part of the campaign, various cleanliness and awareness activities were organized at CRC, Davangere. https://t.co/E4ENOLSDph

Hygiene talk for parents
Lecturer in occupational therapy Janardan Patra spoke to parents and beneficiaries about cleanliness and personal hygiene. The centre said he told them cleanliness starts at home and walked through daily hygiene steps. He also covered household waste, and asked families to separate wet waste from dry waste before disposal. Assistant Basil asked people to treat a cleaner India as a shared job, under the line “My Swachhata, My Responsibility.” Patra coordinated the programme. The centre’s post did not give an attendance count for the October 6 meeting, and it did not name a chief guest.
A day earlier, on October 5, the same centre held a poster-making and slogan-writing contest and said 32 students took part. The centre said the contest was meant to push cleanliness, hygiene, and care for the surroundings. That session is separate from the parent briefing.
Nationally, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said on October 2 that scrap and e-waste disposal across five earlier special campaigns had brought ₹5,102.91 crore into the exchequer, cleared more than 1,049.54 lakh square feet of office space, and weeded over 180.48 lakh files. Those totals are not Davanagere figures. The local post sticks to the parent session and the student contest.
