The Department of Orthopaedic Physiotherapy at KLE College of Physiotherapy, Hubballi, held an Arthritis Awareness and Screening Camp on October 12, 2026, at KLE MRC Hospital in Gabbur. The camp marked World Arthritis Day and ran in association with the Departments of Orthopaedics and Medicine.
More than 100 people took part in the screening and guidance sessions. The programme included an awareness talk by rheumatologist Dr. Mahendra Pauskar, a session on physiotherapy-led arthritis management by Dr. Sweta Kulkarni, exercise demonstrations, and on-site screening with physiotherapy advice.
Early detection focus at Gabbur campus
Organisers stressed early detection, timely care, and steps to keep joints healthy for an active life. Dr. M. G. Hiremath, Director (GA&GS) of KLE HMRC; Dr. S. C. Dharwad, Administrator of KLE HMRC; and Dr. Prashant Mukkannavar, Principal of KLE College of Physiotherapy, Hubballi, attended the event.
KLE College of Physiotherapy operates on the Gabbur campus alongside the medical college and the 1,200-bed KLE Hospital and Medical Research Centre. The physiotherapy department works with hospital specialists on clinical training and community programmes.
Details of the camp appeared in a post on the KLE Hospital Hubballi Facebook page. World Arthritis Day falls on October 12 each year and is used by hospitals and patient groups to highlight joint health and the value of early checks.
