The United States and Iran are closer to open conflict again. President Donald Trump said an American strike on Iran is possible as soon as Sunday. At the same time, US officials have moved personnel out of several Middle East posts because of suspected Iranian plots.
Trump on possible Iran attack
Trump told reporters the US is ready to hit Iran or reach a deal. He left the door open for action “tomorrow.” The comments came after weeks of rising threats. US intelligence says Iran has prepared plans to attack Americans across the region. Officials called the preparations advanced.

When asked if he would order a strike, Trump said: “Do you really think I’d tell you that? Maybe tomorrow… There’s a possibility I will. There’s also a possibility we’ll have a nice, big, beautiful agreement.”
US personnel pulled from Middle East posts
The Wall Street Journal reported that the US ordered staff out of embassies and bases after the warnings. A US official said the suspected plots against American personnel drove the decision. The moves happened quickly. Similar steps were taken before earlier rounds of tension with Iran.
Oil prices and wider risks
Any US strike would almost certainly push oil prices higher. Iran has threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz before. That waterway carries a large share of the world’s oil. Markets are already watching. Earlier this week oil climbed as the threats grew.

The New York Times described the situation as a new level of threat and fear. It said the two sides risk sliding back into full war.
Saudi Arabia recently shot down a Houthi ballistic missile aimed at Riyadh. Iran backs the Houthis. The attack added to the regional strain.
What happens next
Trump has not confirmed a final order. He has left open the chance of a deal. Iran has not publicly responded in detail to the latest comments. US forces remain in the area. Any strike would likely target military sites linked to the suspected plots.
The next 24 to 48 hours will show whether the threats turn into action or stay as pressure. For now, both sides are on edge. A single strike could raise oil costs and pull in more countries.
