North Fork Mono Casino opened on October 27, 2026, just off Highway 99 in Madera County. The $725 million property is managed by Station Casinos and owned by the North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians. It holds more than 2,400 slot machines and 40 table games.
Red Rock Resorts confirmed the early 3 p.m. opening in an official PR release the same day. The casino’s own X account (@NorthForkCasino) also posted that the doors were open and shared photos of the first jackpot winners.
The new casino sits roughly 40 miles from Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino. Chukchansi’s lawyers have told the court that the fresh competition could cut their gaming revenue by as much as 50 percent. That drop would hit education, health care, and other tribal programs.
Chukchansi Gold Faces Major Revenue Risk
Chukchansi Gold has operated for years along Highway 41 near Coarsegold. It is Madera County’s largest private employer and supports more than 1,100 jobs. The tribe has argued in federal filings that players who used to drive to their casino will now choose the closer Highway 99 location instead.

North Fork has pushed back on the 50 percent figure. Tribal attorneys said the estimate relies on older 2019 market data and does not reflect current conditions. Still, the claim shows how seriously both sides take the fight for Central Valley customers.
Madera County Stands to Gain New Revenue
While Chukchansi worries about losses, Madera County and the City of Madera have agreements that bring them direct payments from North Fork Mono Casino. Older memorandums of understanding called for millions of dollars in one-time and annual money for fire services, roads, schools, and the general fund.
Maryann McGovran, North Fork’s treasurer, said the casino will bring new revenue for both the tribe and local governments. “This is a beautiful time,” she said. Tribal leaders expect the money to support social services for their roughly 3,000 members after years of relying on grants.
What the Shift Means for Central Valley Gaming
Mark Ward, general manager at North Fork Mono Casino, described the floor as elegant and easy to enjoy. “It’s also just a place where you feel like you’re at home,” he said. The property plans to stay open 24 hours and draws players from Fresno and surrounding towns.
About 1,500 local jobs have already been filled. Only a small number of those positions went to tribal members so far. Future plans include a hotel and entertainment space.
