The Pascua Yaqui Tribe will open Casino Del Sol Vahi Taa’am on November 15, 2026, at 1055 W. Grant Road near Interstate 10 in Tucson. It is the tribe’s third casino and the first one built inside Tucson city limits.

The casino sits on Old Pascua Community land that was placed in trust for the tribe under the Old Pascua Community Land Acquisition Act. President Biden signed the law on December 27, 2022. The roughly 30-acre area held cultural importance for the tribe long before federal recognition in 1978. A movie theater once stood on the site before the tribe acquired the land.

Name and Design Reflect Tribal History

Vahi Taa’am means “Three Suns” in Yoeme, the language of the Pascua Yaqui people. The name marks the tribe’s third gaming property and is meant to symbolize a bright future. A 26-foot copper dome stands as the building’s main feature and can be seen from Interstate 10.

Pascua Yaqui Tribal Chairman Julian Hernandez said the property carries meaning because it is built on Old Pascua Community land. “November 15 cannot come soon enough,” he said in a June announcement.

Gaming Floor and Job Numbers

The facility covers about 153,000 to 163,000 square feet in total. The gaming floor is roughly 52,250 square feet and will hold approximately 928 slot machines, including high-limit games, along with table games and a High Limit Lounge. A SolSports sportsbook will offer wagering on major sports.

The tribe expects the casino to create around 500 jobs across gaming, food and beverage, hospitality, security, and administration. Lesah Sesma, a 15-year Casino Del Sol employee, will serve as general manager. She previously led the flagship property on Valencia Road.

Interim CEO Amanda Sampson Lomayesva called the opening a step forward for the tribe in Southern Arizona. Construction started in January 2025. The property will also include the Old Pascua Grill and the Sewa Market food hall. No major legal challenges to the opening have been reported recently.
