CBSE To Return To Its One Term Board Exam Next Year

CBSE

From the academic year 2022-23, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to reinstate the solo mode examination. As the Covid-19 virus spreads, officials in the Ministry of Education released the statement that the CBSE Class 10, 12 exams 2022-23 will be held only once starting next year.

The CBSE has established a split format with two terms for the 2021-22 academic year: the Term-I board exams were conducted in November and December last year, whereas the Term-II exams are set to begin on April 26. It has been reported that the Term-II exams would be granted additional weight.

The judgment was made after the second phase of the Covid-19 outbreak forced the cancellation of board exams for the 2020-21 academic year. Previous tests, practical exams, and internal assessments were used to grade students.

 Official statement of the CBSE

After hearing from schools, the board agreed to reintroduce the single-exam schedule, as per a senior official. “The CBSE has never stated if the two-term test pattern will be maintained in the future. It was a once-in-a-lifetime solution. Now that schools are operating properly, the actions were taken to keep to the one-time exam structure for the time being “The official stated.

What about the syllabus?

In terms of curriculum reduction, CBSE will continue with the strategy it has been following for the past two years, which has resulted in a 30% reduction in the syllabus. “The NCERT will update us on the status of the reduction, after which we will release a statement. Schools can use current textbooks to teach the shortened curriculum “The official stated.

To “remove the highly competitive component of board exams,” the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 suggests that all students be permitted to take the board exams up to two times every academic year – “one major test and one for development.”
