
In the aftermath of the devastating terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, stranded tourists have begun arriving at Mumbai Airport, seeking safety and solace.
The attack, which occurred on Tuesday, claimed the lives of 26 individuals and left at least 20 others injured. The government has stepped in to assist stranded tourists, ensuring their safe return home.
Tourists Share Experiences of Fear and Relief
Tourists arriving in Mumbai recounted the harrowing experience of being stranded in Pahalgam during the attack. One tourist shared, “We were under a lot of stress. People were so scared, they didn’t even want to leave their rooms. My family is with me now… We’re feeling safe.”
The government has arranged special flights to evacuate tourists, many of whom arrived at the airport without tickets, highlighting the urgency of the situation.

According to Free Press Journal, the first batch of 65 tourists landed in Mumbai early Thursday morning, marking the beginning of a multi-phase evacuation plan.
Government’s Swift Response to Evacuate Stranded Tourists
The Maharashtra government has coordinated evacuation efforts, arranging multiple flights to bring stranded tourists back to Mumbai. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde personally oversaw the rescue operations in Srinagar, ensuring the safe return of over 450 tourists.

The attack has cast a shadow over Kashmir’s tourism industry, which is a significant contributor to the region’s economy. Tourists from Maharashtra, one of the largest markets for Kashmir tourism, expressed concerns about safety and security.
