India’s large population is an issue, although demographic trends have shifted in several other nations. Governments in many European nations are concerned about declining demographic patterns. This situation also exists in some Asian nations.
Research claims that China’s fertility rate has drastically decreased, falling to 1.09% in 2022. China ended the one-child policy in 2020 to manage its population. Those who had more than one kid were subject to a heavy fee under this policy.
As an illustration, the fertility rate in Shanghai, the biggest metropolis in China, was a mere 0.6% in 2023. However, the fertility rate needs to be at least 2.1 to sustain the existing population level in Chinese society. The average number of children born to a woman during her lifetime is referred to as her fertility rate.
The Chinese government has recently launched a population expansion drive in response to this threat and China urges women to pregnant. The government is currently increasing its population growth using the same strategy that was developed to slow it down prior to 2020. Women of childbearing age are receiving active community-based counseling from government representatives and staff.
These grassroots activists are encouraging women to become mothers, according to a South China Morning Post investigation. The report focuses on a number of these women’s tales. These professionals ask about the women’s menstrual cycles during the counseling sessions and offer their suggestions on when to have sex to increase the likelihood of conception.
Women’s responses to this new government program are not entirely uniform. Many people admitted that they don’t want to have children and that their financial situation prevents them from being able to support a child.
Numerous women and families have also proposed that the government reimburse them for the money they were previously punished for having multiple children. From each of these families, the government collected a fine of $45,000, or Rs 38 lakh.
