
After 15 years of persistence, Venugopal Mullacheri, an Indian expat from Kasaragod, Kerala, has finally struck gold. The 52-year-old IT specialist, residing in Ajman, UAE, won USD 1 million (approximately Rs 8.5 crore) in the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire draw.
Mullacheri purchased the winning ticket on April 23 at the Arrivals shop in Dubai International Airport Terminal 2 while returning from his hometown. His name was announced during a live draw streamed on Dubai Duty Free’s Facebook page on May 7, leaving him in disbelief.
A Dream Come True
For over a decade, Mullacheri had been trying his luck in the draw, purchasing tickets during his travels home. His perseverance finally paid off, making him one of the lucky winners of the prestigious lottery.
Expressing his joy, Mullacheri said, “I’m thrilled to finally be one of the many winners it has created. Thank you so much, Dubai Duty Free.” He also shared that the win felt like a huge burden had been lifted off his shoulders, bringing relief and excitement to his family.
Plans for the Future
A father of two, Mullacheri now looks forward to using his winnings to secure his family’s future. He plans to settle debts, take a well-deserved vacation, and explore new business opportunities in the UAE.
