This year’s WWDC is not just about software updates or the introduction of newer features, rather it is about several important transformational shifts.
One of the most significant changes is the renaming of the iOS operating system versions. Previously, they were numbered based on each new release. Now, they will be named according to the year. The new version is titled iOS 26.
Although it is being introduced in 2025, the fully functional version will be available to the public, later in the upcoming year, around September. The strategic reason behind Apple launching ios26 is about rebranding, to lay the foundation of AI in Apple’s future and also to stay competitive with Android 15.

Introducing Liquid Glass UI
With this new fourth feature of iOS 26, Apple has introduced a new user interface called Liquid Glass UI for enhancing aesthetics. This feature includes floating toolbars, fluid animated widgets and slightly 3D icons which can be navigated using hands and eyes. It is inspired by Apple’s Vision Pro, aiming to make the interface much more user-friendly and interactive.
Integrating AI into Apple’s sphere
With AI becoming a part of every aspect of our lives, Apple has embraced the trend by implementing personalized AI features. This includes, Genmoji (Creating emojis from text prompts), real-time voice transcription using AirPods, smart capture (camera adjusting exposure), smart battery optimization (AI slows battery drain by studying usage habits), alongside creating AI generated background images.
Apple is also opening access to AI models like Gemini and ChatGPT, allowing developers to integrate powerful generative tools directly into their apps. Siri is expected
to be integrated.
Good News for gaming lovers!
iOS 26 is replacing Game Center with a Games app, a more dedicated gaming platform where a hub for achievements and friends list will be shown in a one interface. Personalized game sessions and live multiplayer sessions are also available.
Preview, another new app is also set to be implemented, where one can edit, crop, save handwritten signatures, draw images etc.
Innovation in Apple
By applying all these changes related to design, artificial intelligence, user interface across all its software ecosystems—ios, iPad OS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, visionOS, Apple takes a leap forward, reshaping and reimagining the whole tech experience.
