The opening Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy between India and England, being played at Headingley from June 21-25, remains finely balanced as England reached 349/6 at lunch on Day 3, still trailing India’s first-innings total of 471 by 122 runs.
When last reports came in England score was 367/6 in 84.3 overs. Harry Brook was batting at 82 runs from 101 balls. He struck 10 boundaries and a Sixer.
England Win Toss, Elect to Bowl First
On Day 1, England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and opted to bowl first, citing favorable early conditions at Headingley. “We want to try and use the early conditions. It’s been a long time coming, but we’re ready,” Stokes said at the toss.
India, led by new Test skipper Shubman Gill, handed a debut cap to left-hander Sai Sudharsan, while Karun Nair returned to the side after a long absence. Gill noted he would have bowled first as well, expecting the pitch to flatten out later in the match.
