June 30, 2025 – Hubballi-Dharwad, Karnataka: Mrs. Jyothi Patil has been elected as the new Mayor of the Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC), with Mr. Santhosh Chavhan assuming charge as deputy mayor.
In a warm congratulatory message, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi expressed his best wishes to both leaders, emphasizing hopes for continued progress under their leadership. “May the metropolitan corporation flourish even more during their tenure,” he stated.
Apart from Joshi who is a local resident, the swearing-in ceremony witnessed the presence of prominent public representatives and party functionaries, including:
- MLA Shri Arvind Bellad
- MLA Shri Mahesh Tenginakayi
- Metropolitan District BJP President Shri Tippanna Majjagi
- Senior HDMC Member Shri Veeranna Savadi
- Shri Rajanna Koravi, Shri Shivu Hiremath, Shri Eresh Anchatageri
- Several Palike members and party officials
Local BJP leadership hailed the newly elected mayoral team as dynamic and focused, with the potential to enhance civic services, infrastructure upgrades, and digital initiatives across Hubli and Dharwad.
The HDMC is currently led by a BJP majority with 39 seats, while the Indian National Congress holds 33, JD(S) has 1, AIMIM holds 3, and 6 Independents round out the council. Voting members also include local MLAs, MPs, and MLCs, whose presence during the elections carried weight in the final results.
With the BJP retaining both top civic positions, all eyes are now on the party’s performance in addressing urban challenges such as traffic congestion, sanitation, digital governance, and public infrastructure upgrades.
