Apple’s HomePod mini 2 goes on sale on 30 October 2026. Pre-orders opened on 13 October in the US and more than 23 other countries. The speaker costs $149 in the United States, which is $20 more than the previous model’s last price of $129. The original HomePod mini launched in 2020 at $99.
The new model keeps the same compact spherical design. It comes in five colors: pink, green, blue, white and midnight. Green and pink are new options this time. Apple says the speaker will be available in stores from Friday, 30 October.
Siri AI and Sound Glow Features
HomePod mini 2 is powered by the S10 chip, a step up from the older S5 chip. Apple says the chip improves computational audio so the speaker can adjust dynamic range and loudness in real time. A new feature called Sound Glow turns the top surface into a light display that glows and pulses with the music. It uses colors from the song’s album art.
Siri AI is the biggest software addition, but it will not be ready on launch day. Apple says the smarter, more conversational Siri will arrive in a future software update. It will be available in English in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and India. Users will need an Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone or iPad to use the personal context features.

Home Theater and Mac Support
Up to four HomePod mini 2 units can pair with the new Apple TV 4K for surround sound. The speakers and Apple TV recognize their positions in the room and adjust timing and volume automatically. The HomePod mini 2 can also work as the default speaker for a Mac that supports Wi-Fi 6E or later.
The speaker still includes temperature and humidity sensors, Thread networking, and Sound Recognition that can detect smoke or carbon monoxide alarms. Connectivity is upgraded to Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6. With stores opening on 30 October, buyers will get the new hardware and colors right away, while Siri AI comes a little later.
