Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar reaffirmed his government’s commitment to urban cleanliness and green infrastructure today by inspecting the operational demo of a high-tech ‘Road Sweeper’ vehicle in Kumarakrupa, Bengaluru.

In a tweet from his official handle, Shivakumar shared, “Clean Bengaluru – Green Bengaluru! ಇಂದು ಕುಮಾರಕೃಪಾದಲ್ಲಿ ರೂಟ್ಸ್ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ‘ರೋಡ್ ಸ್ವೀಪರ್’ ವಾಹನದ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಚರಣೆ ಕುರಿತು ಪರಿಶೀಲಿಸಿದೆ.” The demonstration was carried out by Roots Industries, the manufacturer of the sweeping system.

The advanced cleaning vehicle is equipped with modern features including a water jet system, automatic dumping unit, and a spray bar for effective dust and debris suppression. Shivakumar observed the demo conducted by company representatives and praised the technology for its potential to improve civic hygiene and reduce particulate pollution in urban spaces.

Civic officials from Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) were also present during the demonstration, which signals the government’s push for mechanized solid waste management across the city’s key neighborhoods. With monsoon around the corner, these automated road sweepers are expected to enhance debris control and minimize clogged drainage points.

The Deputy CM has previously emphasized the need to blend sustainable policies with smart solutions to transform Bengaluru’s infrastructure. This initiative fits into broader efforts to improve solid waste management, urban mobility, and environmental quality across Karnataka’s capital.

If deployed at scale, these vehicles could significantly cut down manual labor, improve worker safety, and provide consistency in street maintenance—especially on arterial roads and traffic-dense zones.
