Karnataka’s Kalaburagi Rotti Enters Global Markets

Kalaburagi Rotti Exported to US, Australia and Canada: Priyank Kharge

Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge has announced the first export consignments of the famous Kalaburagi Rotti to Australia, the United States, and Canada, marking a major step for the traditional food product from North Karnataka.

According to the minister, export volumes are expected to touch 10,000 rotis per month each to the US and Australia, while Canada is expected to receive around 5,000 rotis every month.

The initiative is also creating new livelihood opportunities for women in the region. Nearly 1,000 women from more than 100 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) are currently involved in the production ecosystem linked to Kalaburagi Rotti.

Over the last two years, the Karnataka government has taken several steps to strengthen the Kalaburagi Rotti brand.

More than 150 rotti-making machines were distributed at subsidised rates to women SHGs and local entrepreneurs. Support was also provided for packaging, labelling, branding, and CSR partnerships.

The product has already gained visibility through online platforms such as Swiggy, Zomato and Amazon India.
