Together, Shafique and Babar built an unbroken third-wicket stand of 168 runs. Interim batting coach Asad Shafiq called the partnership “quite remarkable” and said it addressed something Pakistan had been “missing in the last two-three Test matches” .

Justin Greaves anchored the home side’s first innings with a fluent 64. Rain and bad light disrupted play across both days, cutting the opening day short at just 46.4 overs.
West Indies still lead the two-match series 1-0. They won the first Test by 90 runs after a dramatic turnaround in Trinidad last week.
